Priya Burkett

Priya Burkett is the Director of Business Development for the Colorado market within American Express Global Commercial Payments division. In this role she leads a team of managers responsible for partnering with middle market clients across the states of CO and UT. Prior to joining American Express, she was the Director of Strategic Accounts at Xcel Energy. She and her direct reports were accountable for developing and leading strategic initiatives by partnering with large commercial and industrial customers. She held leadership positions with Xcel Energy for 14 years in areas including Electric & Gas Distribution, Regulatory, Business Systems, and Corporate Giving. Ms. Burkett graduated from The George Washington University with a double major in Finance and Information Technology. Recruited by a multi-national consulting firm based in New York City to program financial systems for investment banks, her work has taken her to over 14 countries in Europe and throughout India leading system conversions, change management and process improvement projects.

Ms. Burkett moved to Denver in 1999 with a technology consulting company and subsequently worked for three start-up companies to implement systems and develop business strategy. She earned an Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado. Priya is active in the community participating in volunteering events and fundraising for non-profits. Specifically, she is engaged with the Five Points community, Friends of Manual High School, Dora Moore K-8 Denver Public School, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Lincoln Hills Charitable Organizations, Junior Achievement, and Whiz Kids Tutoring. She serves on the Denver Public School Foundation Board, Trustee for the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation and a Tutor with Reading Partners. She, her husband Matthew and their kids Saijel, Holland and Brielle reside in Five Points, Denver.
