Dr. Elizabeth Oyekan is vice president of Operations for Kaiser Permanente Colorado. In her role, she oversees primary care, nursing, medical specialties, surgical specialties, obstetrics / gynecology, behavioral health, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, the clinical call center and visions essentials.

Dr. Oyekan earned her Doctorate in Pharmacy Degree from the University of Southern California, completed her administrative and clinical residency at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, and graduated from the executive leadership program at Harvard University. She was the pharmacy supervisor and then manager of the Los Angeles Medical Center 4950 outpatient pharmacy, home infusion services, and clinical programs & services. In 2001, she became the Clinical Operations Manager and Population Health and Care Management Director at the KP Los Angeles & West Los Angeles Medical Centers w here she oversaw the clinical, chronic conditions and specialty care programs. In 2006, she became the Area Pharmacy Director of the South Bay / Harbor City Medical Center w here she oversaw inpatient, outpatient, clinical operations, and the drug use management programs and services and in 2008 also became the Assistant Medical Center Administrator for the perioperative services, central supply, & surgery scheduling.

Dr. Oyekan is the author of the BSMART Handbook, provider guide, Equitable Care Tip sheet, and interactive modules – provider tools used to optimize medication adherence and appropriate medication use in patients to improve their health outcomes. The BSMART Strategy won the CBI Strategic Patient Award in 2009. She is currently working with IHI and the KP Adherence Team on strategies to improve Medication Adherence in our African American Population with Hypertension.

Dr. Oyekan is a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, National Association of Healthcare Quality, and the Care Management Society of America and has served as a board member for the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists. She is an active member of the community, she is involved in medical missions locally & internationally and community youth orchestras.

She is married to Richard and has 3 children who have lived and travelled to different countries.
