Ruthanne K. Orihuela entered her role as Academic Dean for the Center for Arts & Humanities at Community College of Denver in June 2013 after having served as Department Chair for Performing Arts and Humanities at the Community College of Aurora since 2010. Prior to entering higher education administration, Ruthanne taught college-level Spanish for ten years at several four-year institutions. In her role at the Community College of Denver, Ruthanne provides college leadership and oversees the disciplines of English, Journalism, Visual Art, Graphic Design, English as a Second Language, World Languages, Humanities, Literature, Philosophy, and Communication. Community College of Denver’s Confucius Institute is also housed within the Center for Arts & Humanities. Ruthanne earned a Master’s degree in Spanish Linguistics from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2001 and a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Idaho in 1999. A mother of six year old twins, she works to balance her two fulltime jobs as dean and mom while also working toward a Ph.D. in Higher Education Student Affairs Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado.
